Orbiter 2016 Released

Thanks ... been using that sim a lot over the years. Probably the best free software ever released. Orbiter will consume you until you master things like launching into a stable orbit, landing safely on the moon, docking with the International Space Station. There are tons of free add-ons and tutorials. Take a look at the stuff on YouTube to see if Orbiter is for you. If a great war game goes for 50-75 bucks, then Orbiter is easily worth that and perhaps much more. It has a steep learning curve, but very very very rewarding along the way. Nothing like entering lunar orbit with a bit of Pink Floyd in the background.

Y'all are welcome, and a big +1 @Kevinkin

If anyone decides to give it a try, I highly recommend these two essential mods. They should really be part of the base program by now, but unfortunately aren't. First is the D3D9Client, which adds DirectX 9 support and allows you to have advanced graphic options like AA and stuff. Download it here: https://d3d9client.codeplex.com/

Second must have is OrbiterSound 4.0, which adds sounds to the sim. It can be downloaded here: http://orbiter.dansteph.com/forum/index.php?page=download

Agree. I also use my flight sim joystick for basic maneuvers. Adding "bases" to navigate to and land at is also cool. I learned and set-up an entire moon infa structure of mining bases. It's a challenge to try going to each one using the least amount of fuel. But your imagination is the limit to what can be achieved. Not a bad regular flight sim either, and free.

Been watching this for a while. Certainly looks good. Wish I had the time.
