In the Air Force if we screwed up we were threatened to be transferred to Shemya Air Force Base out on the Aleutian chain of Alaska if we screwed up.
The tour was one year and was considered "remote" (boy was it). It was only 5sq miles. You couldn't have family members joins you because there was no housing for families. (Not that I had one anyway).
No people other than military personnel which meant little or no women for a year!
Really it was just a gas station and radar site.

The same thing happens here. There's a place called Covunco, in the province of Neuquen, near the border with Chile. There's a regiment there, and it's considered a punishment center. If someone asked about a certain soldier here who hadn't been seen lately, the response would be "they sent him to Covunco"—as if to say something funny. But it's just a myth, a military legend. In fact, there are places farther away. Lucky I didn't see it; the climate is cold because of its proximity to the mountain range.
