Colorized pic of the crew of B-29 Superfortress 42-24598 "Waddy's Wagon", 20th Air Force, 73rd Bomb Wing, 497th Bomb Group, 869th Bomb Squadron. Photographed on friday, nov 24, 1944.
All were killed when "Waddy's Wagon" was shot down attempting to guide a crippled B-29 back to safety during a mission against the Nakajima aircraft factory in Musashino, Japan on jan. 9, 1945.
A search plane flown the next day, and those that combed the area for the next two weeks, never found a trace of either aircraft.

Agana Airfield, Guam, Mariana Islands, 1945: B-24 bomber "Lil' Audrey", which saw extensive action against Japanese targets in the Pacific Ocean Island campaign. Lil' Audrey was the first B-24 in the 7th Air Force to successfully complete 100 missions.
