Poll: who would want to play CM:Dip?

Who would like to play a game of Diplomacy where the battles are resolved in CM?

Game start would be September earliest so no rush. The game would be primarily Dip. The battles would be small and quick and be modified by circumstances (available support, unit type, nation).
Players (=ambassadors) should have played Diplomacy before - at least I would prefer that. Dip rules are not difficult but some familiarity would be nice.
Each nation can employ generals to resolve the battles (these could also be former ambassadors who lost their country - a common occurrence :)).
The game would be hand adjudicated.

Please note that, given the nature of the game, it may well be two years to resolve this game.

Sounds great. I would be glad to join in this campaign. I am familiar with diplomacy so the basics are there.

If the rules are available somewhere I could do some homework. Should be fun!

Hmm, doesn't look like this would fly. However I would still like to run this game if there is enough interest (e.g. seven players).

Here's what I thought up for the rules so far if anyone is interested. Not much & not finished but a beginning.

Map

Standard European Diplomacy map

Rules

Standard Diplomacy rules except for resolving battles.

CM Battles

Arranged scenarios. Duration: 25min, Time & weather random
Three map types: open, bocage, city - map is random except: F - A: beach map
Three force types: infantry, mix (inf+armour), AT (infantry+ATGs) - player chooses which
Two battle types: Probe or ME (only if both sides try to move into one space or into each others space and have the same number of supports)
Battle size: Tiny

Defender in Probe gets:
- 5 trenches or 10 foxholes
- (5 mines (any), 5 barbed wire) or 10 barbed wire
- 1 TRP

Battle results

A->A, F->F (on land), F->A: attacker needs > draw
A->F: attacker needs >= draw
F->F on sea or coast: Diplomacy rules

For every support raise or lower the victory requirements by one slot.
A supporting fleet adds an FO and a DD battery to its side (but does NOT shift the requirements!).

A&F are only destroyed as per Diplomacy rules.

Time

Expected completion date is the first sunday 28 days after the battle started, 19h GMT. If a battle is not finished by then, the side which had the better return time will be deemed the winner (measured in days, decided by the GM).
Hence a pro-forma invite for all dropboxes for the GM is required.

Default retreats have to be issued before a battle begins. After the battle is resolved there is a one day window to change that. If there is no retreat order after this time the unit will be disbanded.

The same goes for build orders but only for Fall moves.

Other

Players can pre-arrange bounces or retreats. Both need to inform the GM and no CM battle takes place.

It is not possible to trade units or builds.
