I was thinking the scattered shell casings were a little small then I saw the round in the man on the right.
That's better.
I like the spoon tucked in to his leggings.
Actually, although the gun is pointing at the building it looks like they have their eye on something or someone under the bridge.

Yep, the soldier on the right appears to be holding an ammunition for the next shot.
Those shell casings on the ground represent where the MG team was that was destroyed the day before.
