Here's the King Tiger with the Porsche Turret, which you get with the Commonwealth Forces module for CMBN...

Today, I realized that when I do unit selection for a Quick Battle, I cannot find the King Tiger (Porsche Turret) in the unit list

It's not in June, not July, not August, not September. Per the manual, only regular German Army used this King Tiger in Normandy - not Waffen SS - so I only look through the German Army force list. No sign of it.

For most months of 1944 I see something like this:

Unit List no Tigre.png

But!

If I start to build a Scenario from the Mission Editor, the Tiger IS there:

My question is, can some vehicles only be found via the Mission Editor?

It seems pretty clunky that the only way to find this vehicle is in the Mission Editor and not in the Quick Battle setup process. I don't know if this is the only vehicle where this happens.

For what it's worth, I have Version 4.03, with the CMBN base game + Commonwealth, Vehicle Pack and Market Garden.

I appreciate any insights the forum can provide!

It's a known bug and will stay so until somebody at BFC can be bothered to make a mouse click in the right box to re-enable the vehicle. Maybe in a couple of years if we're lucky.

I assume someone must be coding the games, I'm quite certain CMCW and F&R didn't pop into being by accident! :p
Aren't they basically just adding new content to the existing codebase? If the template for all the different weapons systems are already in place, it would be a matter of adding the right values in the right places. A bit like modding.

But yeah, I was being a bit polemic. I'd like to see them hire a junior coder just for fixing simple bugs and issues that don't need much expertise.

Do they even have a coder at all? I read their programmer left years ago.
LOL Charles is the main programmer - he has been there from the start - working behind the scenes. He is very much still working on code. They did have a second guy who did leave for a really cool AI project. Staffing is not really public knowledge - I keep getting surprised about who all works full and part time for BFC.

Creating new content takes a designer (or two), modellers, graphic artists and programming. So, there is no new content without a developer working on it.

There is new code in the new modules, e.g. cluster bombs and cluster artillery.

Is Phillip still there? I think he mainly took care of the Mac port and other integration work.

Fair enough, but isn't that just a bombing run where they set the number of bombs to be very high and the size of the bombs to be very small? I don't have CMCW so I don't know how it works.

Phil isn't a full time employee anymore but does work for BFC on a part time/contract basis.
