Half-Track Goner

Begging your pardon in advance for my noobishness...

I'm interested in playing a matches head-to-head. I'm more of a turn-based guy. Is PBEM the preferred method for that format for FGM members? Is there a preferred app/site for communication? Do I need to have the same mods as my opponent downloaded?

Any thoughts on modules or scenarios that members might prefer playing? I have all the modules/games for WWII CM2, but haven't even tried community scenarios.

Should I stick to campaigns/scenarios before trying to play with the big boys? :D

I'm a bit clueless, apologies if I missed a FAQ somewhere.

Thanks,

HTG

Don't appoligize mate we all walked the path of noobishness before. PBEM is the most preffered method of play. Regarding QB's or scenarios. Just play what you like. Some prefer scenarios and some prefer QB's. Just go with it! :D if you loose then you loose and if you loose more then once then so be it but there will be a day that you will win and you will enjoy that day... :)

Folks use Dropbox to swap files. Head to Head Helper (H2HH) makes tracking several games agin several players really simple. Its at 2.11.3.

Excellent, thanks for the insight and encouragement.

Winning is nice but it's not that important to me, which is a good thing. :D

One more question: do I need to join the FGM ladder to get a match?

Thanks,

HTG

So, I'm bumbling merrily through the process of starting a head-to-head match, using H2HH and DropBox.

It took me an hour of searching online to accept that, indeed, my first "turn" was solely comprised of typing in a password.

I hope my opponent is a very patient man, for his sake. :)

I'm sure your opponent has the patience. Is he from the the FGM?

I am sure you don't have to worry. Most of the time I begin a new battle it takes about 1 or 2 weeks from the Dropbox invite to the first turn played. I never experience someone complaining about that. Besides PBEM always need a good portion of patience. But it sure is worth every spent minute :).

Good to know, Strachwitz. I may start a few additional PBEMs. Seems to be common practice around here. Looking forward to a human opponent.

He's FGM and he's a prince of a fellow. Just having a laugh at my own expense. :)

Appreciate the help and insights, all.

You are welcome. That is how we roll here at the FGM ;)

Enjoy your games mate. I always enjoy playing a human opponent
