This was the first documented "Alien Invasion" that inspired the TV show "V" running today and in the 70's. The primary reason the first encounters were not sucessful was that they had not mastered teleportation or shuttle craft. Also, the ropes were only 50 meteres long and they hovered at 2000 ft. In the few news articles that remain on the event, it is reported the aliens always talked in a high pitched scream as they approached and disappeared in a puff of dust. It was also wildly reported that they had no recognizable form because when the dust cleared they always took the shape of the container they were shoveled in to.
