Off again today for a week, this time back to a caravan site we visited before on the Hants/Dorset border near the New Forest.
Watch this space for tales of misadventure and ineptitude

The Eagle has landed…. No issues getting here or setting up although it took us a while to put up our new Sunncamp 390 air awning.
Looking forward to a nice relaxing week away from the pressures of work.

Link to photos below and more to be added.

Over and out

Breaking news….
Captain Chaos has fixed something and no one got hurt!!!
Having arrived on site, got set up and demolished scampi and chips, it was discovered that the Thetford toilet would not flush…. Consult You Tube and find out that perhaps it may be the pump impeller needs a gentle rotation or two, and a bit of silicone spray, and this may just get it working again.
So, after borrowing a set of small screwdrivers from the chap on the pitch next to me, I took the top off the toilet button, undid the 2 screws hold the pump in place and managed to wiggle it free to gain access.
A few persuasive rotations and spray with silicone ( I had some left in a can after using it on the window seals the day before we left), and voila, it’s working again.

So, anyone needing their house rewired or new central heating system put in…..
Don’t ask me

Captain Chaos

Can’t you tell by the 3rd pic….. I have been too busy driving my Ferrari….
More to come

Just added a few more of the caravan and the lovely site we are on.

In the photos i added one of a VW camper….

The VW camper conversion is a bit special…. These were called Jurgen VW’s and were built in South Africa
The owner of this one spent 10 months rebuilding it using original spare parts and has added solar power so he can go off grid.
The original engine has been replaced by a 2.0litre petrol one with twin carbs and can race up to a heady 55mph

More uploaded now as we have been out today, taking in the delights of Lymington.
Highlights of the day included a spot of late lunch at a pub just outside Lyndhurst, and almost getting assaulted by the resident and protected wildlife of the New Forest while parked up in Brockenhurst, where several of the crack troops aka cows, proceeded to charge down the middle of the road we were driving down…. I promptly assessed the situation and departed for cover as these were not for stopping!!!

In case you think a lager called Spitfire is a bit ironic…. You are conversing with a bloke who called his BMW R1100RT…..

In my wanderings I oft peruse book shops and leaf through the opening pages of old books to see if there are any inscriptions, and occasionally I find them…. Just added a photo of one such inscription, hand written in ink in 1874…. Amazing…. I wonder about the lives these people have led and what stories unfold….

A few more photos added, currently sat in a coffee shop in Wimborne where we have just been into the Minster ( been before).
Grey and overcast but not cold.

That letter from Walter Breen sent during WW2. He died on October 9th 1944.

Great research
Have you got any info on his military service?

He was born in 1914 in Ohio, his father was also Walter and his mother was called Marie, he left school in fourth year. He was working as a security guard when he got called up for service in February 1943. He enlisted at Cleveland Ohio and signed up for the duration of the war or other emergency plus 6 months. He served in the 26th Special Service Company who's job was to entertain the troops. The 26th were based in Crownhill, Plymouth during the war. No details on his death Im afraid.

Excellent information, thanks very much.
It brings the matter to life for me, I only spotted this letter in the window of a little non descript building in Brockenhurst, isn’t it amazing what you can stumble across quite by accident.

Been out and about as usual, and have uploaded some more photos including some of Poole harbour and the old town, old Lifeboat museum followed by a drive out to Wareham where I nipped into the only saxon church in Dorset, which has an interesting past, including an effigy of a certain Mr T. E. Lawrence.

As a VW enthusiast, well done.

To add to information from the saxon church in Wareham, one of the names listed on the inscription (Ned Carruthers) perished when the ship he was on sank in 1801:
