Real Time battles, looking for people

got tired of pbem and wego, yes it has its positive sides that we all know but today i realised its not the only way to play the game (same post in cmbs/cmbn)



positive sides of Real time: u can cancel orders (pretty simple fact and everyone who knows this game , knows how good is this and* realistic in most cases)

Pause available : 1) where you cant issue orders 2) where you can

'adrenaline' , idk about you but my heart beats faster when my panter's turret is rotating and aiming at sherman, and while i am waiting to see will he shoot first ,and then what will happen if he gets hit and all that stuff

or when you have 1 platoon waiting to cross the street but you see enemy movement and duuno what to do in the moment and u send whole squad to death. those stories are different from the ones in wego/pbem because you are not completely relaxed while living them , you have to decide fast sometimes and it just feels more alive



what i am thinking about is a tiny or prefferably small, maybe Medium battle that would be set to end in 1 or 2 hours (Custom battles/quick battles)



iam not sure about pause rules yet, if there are pauses timer will be set to 1h for small battle or something like that, if there are no* pauses or its very limited for emergency cases, then 2 hours battle to give us room for thinking since CM is not very optimised/smooth game



Wego that is set to 45-1h actually lasts (not pbem) 2 hours or more sometimes , so its same thing in theory

hey,i am Cet, central european time ,usually free first part of the day, from the morning to 5pm, but its not fixed
 
hmm if you are online at 11pm, thats 4am for me, i could maybe get at 6am (thats 1am for you) , we can play till 7am my time or something like that (2am your time)
 
Hypaspist i would like to try that:) Im in GMT so mornings would suit. Maybe friday this week would be good. Not sure about the technical aspects of getting connected up though.

Really sorry. Taxi run with family has come up on Friday but I'm still keen to try sometime next week. Monday morning is ok for me say about 10am GMT? In the meantime ill try to test out hamachi.

Would be cool to get a mini real time tourney going.

We used to do it at tournamenthouse.com back in the day with Close Combat. Even though the time zone thing got in the way everyone seemed to get their games in on a timely manner. Usually playing odd time zone match ups on the weekend.

We can start a thread to see how many are interested.
 
@Hypaspist sorry i thought you said mornings were good. I can do Sunday morning at say 10am but Monday night at about 8pm would be much better. Let me know what suits you.

mornings are good for me, i can get up early and i am free untill 5pm usualy (cet, so thats gmt +1). from 5pm to midnight i am usually not free, but sometimes i am free between 7pm - 1am/midnight (Gmt +1). sometimes i am free whole day but thats not fixed,it can be anyday in theory. basically i am most likely and in practice i am almost always free from the morning to the early evening/ pre evening (5pm gmt +1)

that would be awesome, might get more people to play real time aswell. can you make the post?i ll make sure its on every major forum and keep tracking it. i can also make hamachi rooms and put people in and make sure everything goes smoothly as possible,even if tournament doesnt start,at least more people will play Real time ,so its not a total disaster
