[Request] WW2 Topo Maps of Russia & NW Europe

This site has lots of topographical maps and city plans of areas in Russia, Poland and East Prussia, and what's best they're from the 30's and 40's http://www.wwii-photos-maps.com/

That one's nice, Dutch Grenadier! Wish every country had a site with WW2 era maps like that :)

The Geographical Section, General Staff, made a series of maps over Normandy (and other areas) before the invasion, this site has an overview of which map sheet cover which area:

Unfortunately they charge 12 british Pound per sheet, and the ones viewable online at the British Library website have too low resolution to be usable. Not sure where else one can find them online with high enough resolution.

Topographical maps of Germany from the 40's, usable at least for the US probes of the Siegfried Line in September -44; http://contentdm.lib.byu.edu/cdm/search/collection/GermanyMaps

McMaster University has a useful digital archive of WWII Topographic Maps.

France 1:100k Topographic Maps are at URL = http://digitalarchive.mcmaster.ca/islandora/object/macrepo:8286

I suspect the site was designed for a Geography student! For ETO (CMBN), you will need to know the French "Department" for the location you seek. You will likely need some kind of "SnapIt" software of your own to copy the portion(s) you care about. It takes a bit of putzing about to figure out. Still, a very good resource to create sound topographic overlays; grid coordinates, contour lines, terrain features, and such to lay a good foundation for starting.

For Normandy this site I think is the best and, of course, the best comes at a price

I haven't checked it for a while, maybe he's expanded his collection. I got a map of Carentan environs from him, which I am happy to share.

For the Eastern Front this is my go to site

It may overlap with the Polish site mentioned a few posts back. The Russian 1930s map are very good quality, although resolution is a bit dodgy when used as an underlay at the highest zoom level on the CMRT editor.
