On 8th March 1941 the north lodge of Buckingham Palace adjacent to Constitution Hill received a direct hit in a german bombing raid. Police Constable Stephen Robertson was killed by flying debris.

The damage can be seen through the railings of Buckingham Palace, the war reserve Police Constable stands beside a piece of debris which has been thrown onto the pavement outside the Palace.
