I have just started playing my first scenario and although I have never played ASL or SL I am enjoying the game very much so far with more mods and scenarios to come nearly daily.

I like the look of it & having also never played ASL I'm very interested, what worries me though is that like a lot of their other games they are asking top price for what is essentially a re-vamped game or am I wrong in that assumption?
Pity there is no PBEM.
 
Was just at the Matrix site and this may become a pretty big deal. The players have already submitted a lot of mods, not the least of which is an ASL units/maps mod that is getting raves. That and the claimed ease with with scenarios can be made could give this game some legs. Here's a game play video for your review...

Thanks for the link mTk, I'm pretty much sold on this, putting aside that there is no PBEM I will be getting this in the very near future. Due manly to the fan community & mods that are becoming available, among them the ASL mod.
 
In the MOD list there is "VASL Mod", does this mean that this is compatable with VASSAL for online play? (Please, please say yes;this would be great> I might actually get to play ASL vs a HUMAN - wibble :eek:)

Picked it up a few days ago & was slightly disappointed to find that 2 player is only available as hot seat, as I'm a cantankerous miserable old git that's unlikely.
Found these on youtube, worth a watch maybe?

 
Yup, with no real information in the game spec, only "1,1-2 players".
I've just checked to confirm it & its now saying no PBEM, didn't have that on there a few weeks back!!
That's a bit cheeky!

I don't really know what the play sequence is like but you would think when they were conceptualizing the game in the very early stages then they could have used a sequence that would allow for PBEM. Probably a design choice made early on I suppose.
 
I want to play this so bad with people!. Who wants to come over? I live in New Hampshire, US ;)

Seriously, I'm going to buy it. I don't mind donating to someone that has taken the spirit of the beloved ASL (best ever IMHO) and put it into digits. I have so many fond memories playing ASL with my brothers. I am glad the community here is thinking of supporting it by purchasing. Who knows, maybe there will be at least a TCP/IP multiplayer down the road.
