US Afghan non-strategy

Gentlemen,

I should have moved one of the threads to the new forum, but it didn't seem to be a big deal. Wish I had now. In particular a thread revolving around Pres. Obama's anticipated startegy on Afghanistan.

I recall some members detailing what Pres. Obama had outlined months ago (part of his campaign promises) about a troop surge. (Remember that he campaigned on the notion that Afghanistan was the neglected theatre and was where the real fight was.)

That strategy was juxtaposed against the most recent request from his hand picked commander for the theatre, Gen. McCrystal who requested 40,000 more troops. Anyone recall what I posted some weeks ago?

I said that this President didn't want anything to do with the war on terror in Afghanistan or any other part of the world and is looking for any avenue to exit without looking like he is quitting.(I'm paraphrasing my own post).

One of todays news headlines from the Associated Press:

Updated November 11, 2009
Official: Obama Rejects All Afghan War Options

by

AP

President won't accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead to clarify when responsibility would be turned over to the Afghan government.

To steal a phrase, "I told you so."

I can't wait for the 2010 elections to get here.

I am not siding with anyone on this but...

"The White House said Obama has yet to make up his mind on the proposals that have been put forth, and he is expected to continue deliberations during a nine-day trip to Asia starting Thursday. His press secretary has insisted a decision is still weeks away."

So as far as it goes, we'll see what happens. Either way, shit or get off the pot Obama/Administration/USA. If you're going to throw the gloves off in a country, do it or leave.

During the campaign, Obama relied upon his community organizing skills (#1 being tell them what they want to hear, not what you will do) to convey his "concern" and plan to bring an end to the wars in Iraq and Afghan. Now his "concern" is to delay any type of decision pending a consesnus from Euro socialists as to the direction they will go. Keep your eye on SoS Clinton, and her path across the globe garnering support for other nations to pull away from the wars as a method for him to propose our withdrawl based upon "world opinion".....

Gentlemen of the USA ...I did not think you guys so silly as to believe your politicians?:eek:oh:
They all lie left and right...just tell you what they thing will win votes then do as they please anyway.
Now the Canadian guys are different they never lie.

By the way guys I am a die hard socialist in politics/ economics and a Consevative in religion. The best of both worlds.

Oh, You're a catholic from Massachusetts. That's nothing unique here.
