I recently got a batch of pictures on disk featuring the Russians battling in Berlin.

I came across these two...

Very graphic.... what the hell would cause this kind of damage!!

I would say a large caliber shell of some kind.

Frightening the true horror of war, just to show how little we really know.

mortar rounds, grenades, mines, or large HE arty. The weapons we use are very gruesome on soft targets...

Yeah the Ruskies used lots of artillery shoting directly on strongpoints and buildings.
Seems that a HE could have killed the poor guy.
The stench in Berlin during and after the battle should have been awfull with
so many unburied corpses.
