I got it wrong. I thought Ferrari and Italy. Not even close.

The answer is D - The United Kingdom

The UK has 308 total wins, far surpassing any other country in the world. Germany is second with 179; Brazil is third with 101 wins; France is fourth with 81; Italy is seventh with 43; and the US is well behind in 12th place with only 33 F1 victories.

Oddly a lot of the constructors are based in the UK. I live very close to Maclaren and Brooklands, which was the world's first purpose-built 'banked' motor racing circuit. Parts of it are still around today and you can walk around them. There's also a museum, it's where a lot of the 'original' constructors started

Both the Alpine F1 team HQ at Enstone, and the UK Haas HQ in Banbury are close to me, and both the Caterham F1 and Arrows Yamaha F1 teams occupied a site just outside the village where I live.
Also not too far from Maclaren at Milton Keynes and the Mercedes team HQ in Brackley are also not too far away.

I was at Silverstone in 1991 for the F1 grand prix when Ayrton Senna ran out of petrol and was given a lift back to the pits by Nigel Mansell.

I've driven around part of the Monaco circuit whilst on holiday ( 3 times in a suitable vehicle......2002 Kia Sedona sporting a rebadged Mercedes 2.9 turbo diesel, ably supported by my pit crew.....wife and 3 boys).
