Welcome to Holland. Well almost :)

I love the new units. Can't wait to drill Allied infantry with a flakvierling or a wirblewind :p

Target Arnhem - for Marshall666 and me a bridge too far at this day in spring 2009!

Dammed - I miss the photos of the Nijmegen bridge! :(

Thanks for the heads up, Dutch! Great news! :) The houses and windmills look awesome! :) (Much better than those "fantasy houses" of BF's Normandy... o_O)

Yes, that will be the best part of CMBN so far - no question! ;)

But I must keep reminding BF about the motorcycles w/ sidecar... ....how can they ignore such an important unit...??? *gg!

Now THIS is potentially exciting for campaign builders:

The 7 "master maps" are huge maps, historically accurate, detailed and thoroughly researched, depicting the main areas around the bridges where most of the fighting happened:
  • Oosterbeek
  • Johana Hoeve
  • Arnhem Road Bridge
  • Oosterhout ( north of Nijmegen)
  • Nijmegen
  • West Nijmegen
  • Elst
These master maps will help scenario designers in creating their own scenarios without the burden of having to create the maps from scratch. The maps can be cut to encompass smaller areas for individual battles.

Aye, based on BF's presentation, you would think they never existed.
I would also point out the total lack of Horses in the German OOB, in spite of the wealth of historical references to their ubiquitous presence in much of the German army.

I would love to see a kettenkraftrad
Yes, me too! :) But mororcycles w/ and without sidecar are my absolute favourite! ;) (...and medics!)

Yes, absolutely! I agree 100% with you - the German Regiments were by far not that vastly motorized as the newsreels (Deutsche Wochenschau) wanted to make the people believe.

The German Wikipedia article / data set entry says it was only 40% - and the English Wiki says this: "The Heer entered the war with a minority of its formations motorized; infantry remained approximately 90% foot-borne throughout the war, and artillery was primarily horse-drawn. The motorized formations received much attention in the world press in the opening years of the war, and were cited as the reason for the success of the invasions of Poland (September 1939), Norway and Denmark (April 1940), Belgium, France and Netherlands (May 1940), Yugoslavia and Greece (April 1941) and the early stage of campaigns in the Soviet Union (June 1941)."

But on the other hand: Most of the heavy guns/canons that were drawn by horses can't be seen in Combat Mission - they are only available as artillery support.
I for one A S S U M E that all the horses are standing not too far away from that heavy artillery guns and field kitchens - so they are in the game, but we can't see them.... *gg! ;)

Yes, a very fine tool and good idea by BF! Excellent! :)

Could mean that the landing/drop zones will be left out...

I just want to see how the modeled the historic bridges....

And for you Bram... wirblewind's are great against Aircraft and troops... but go BOOM, pretty easy with grenades and 50 Cal's

I agree, also ti would mean Cossack's when CMx2 turns to the eastern front, yum. :D

 We can cut and paste maps in the editor ? Can this be done ?
