What realism does FGM play at?

As I start picking up more battles here, I figured i would ask what the "normal" settings are for realism when playing against each other.

I typically run with Elite during quicker battles so that both sides don't spend half the game trying to find their squads, but I see the big honkers as being potential Iron stuff.

Granted, I've also spent most of my CMx2 experience in real time against AI to date, so I may be wrong.

Which is all a very long winded way of asking Elite or Iron for the community norm?

I also prefer Elite settings. Never played with easier settings and never will :). I hope CMBN gets a patch soon implementing the new FOW mechanics of CMFI.

I prefer Iron, but will play whatever is agreed to. Sometimes in our tourneys, the Master will decide the level.

Iron is my first choice, though I'm not a good player. I tend to cede to my opponents wishes, but my preference is the higher the better.

I'm with Strachwitz on the CMFI FoW. The sooner it arrives in Normandy the better!

I've tried RT several times but my ever slowing brain cells can't cope and have fun.

I understand that some people play using only height level '1' - don't know if anyone on FGM does that. Those Commanders I salute, it seems bloomin' impossible to me!

Having tried Iron in PBEM now, it doesn't seem like it really affects anything. You, the player, still have perfect SA and if you ever lose it, you just unclick and re-plot. It seems like it would be much more punishing in real time where "regaining the command view takes valuable time.

I prefer Iron.

And for real-time, I'm not fast enough to have fun, even with a company sized force. A single mistaken click and your platoons run into machinegun fire
