And so It begins with the simple yet iconic phase of.. Is this new dangled CM version worthy of investment ?
Give me some reasons, as Shock Force steered me wrong a few years back and I was very reluctant to give BF any more of my capital, that I should become a sneaky arsed bastage of an opponent in this series, like I did in the past versions.;)

Which game, which mods, what's to hate and what's great.

TIA

Each and every module in the CMx2 series is the best entertainment I have ever found for my hard earned money. Each battle is better than the last (most of the time) and some of the turns literally keep me on the edge of my seat. While CMx1 was great and has a sweet spot in my heart, CMx2 is fantastic.

I second that! Not much more to add.

If you haven't tried SF lately, you really should. It's a brilliant game in its finished form. In fact, I'm looking forward to SF2 more than any of the WW2 titles coming down the pike. Anyway, the answer to your question is a resounding YES! It is definitely worth getting! Honestly, where else are you going to find a game that depicts the fighting in Normandy as accurate as CMBN does?

What interests you more, Italy or Normandy? If both, then get both! Personally, I prefer Normandy, so that's the one I have (plus modules). As far as mods, see the sticky in this forum. Ithikial uploaded a great cross-section of popular mods in download packets. There's really no big issues left with the game. The ones that peeved me the most have been fixed or are going to be fixed in the upcoming patch. The only things that still bother me are shadows (being worked on and getting better), AT gun crew animations, and the 8-bit looking terrain features in maps.

I'll be grabbing Normandy and the commonwealth pack probably in the AM while the family's asleep so I can DL it quickly
looks like I might as well get MG 2.0 as well since that will be the newest up date and most current to play with folks here during my learning phase.

Fresh meat .. coming soon... try not to bite your tongues off

Good choice RedDevil! You will have a blast! One tip. Don't approach CM2 like it is just a newer CM1. They are pretty different and the learning curve seems quite steep for some people. But as you were playing CMSF this shoul be no problem.
