Interesting, Watching this at work while im supposed to be working

First heard of Wittman when playing Steel Panthers.....replayed Villers-Bocage a few times

Then again in Company of heroes

Now seeing there was much more history than a random encounter

What is to mention yet is that Wittmann wasn´t the best german tank ace - there he was only on 3rd or 4th place. But he was the ace that killed almost as many ATGs as tanks. And that the other aces - so far as I know - didn´t. And how much more difficult it had to be to find and hit an hidden ATG instead of a tank that is huge as a boulder! An further interesting character in the contrary to Wittmann was Kurt Knispel. He was the number one what tank killing german tank aces concerns. Where Wittmann was the compliant show man as advertising for the tank weapon and the SS there were Knispel the guy who brawled with SS to protect soviet prisoners. He butted heads with Nazi authorities several times etc. He was the Anti-Wittmann what the spirit concerns but he was as successful as the SS man - only in a very unmilitary attitude. Therfore he never got the Ritterkreuz even if he was three times recommended by his commander. Knispel´s nickname was "The Black Baron". That was an allusion to Manfred von Richthofen - "The Red Baron"! What Richthofen was in the air was Knispel on the ground. Knispel got 168 tank kills - many over a distance of about 3000m. 30 hits/kills weren´t counted. Wittmann got 138 kills and 131 or 132 ATG kills. What for men these guys where.

Greetings :)
