Asking this group of boffins and history buffs for some help. A work colleague's wife is looking into her late Grandfather's life and trying to better map out what he did in WW2. He was this fellow:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joachim-Friedrich_Lang
http://www.oocities.org/~orion47/WEHRMACHT/HEER/Generalmajor2/LANG_JOACHIM.html

Particularly interested in any info around his unit and death in April 1945.

Anyone got any info on the military career of General Lang or the units he commanded during the war? (See second link for unit history).

Cheers in advance.

+1 to what Vart said.

Also did a quick search that turned up this German site that has entries for a lot of the units during the war. Here's a link to the English "translation" via Google: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gliederungen/Infanterie.htm&edit-text=&act=url

If your coworker's wife can read German, I also ran across this book about the 95. Infanteriedivision, the last division he commanded. It may have some good info regarding the last actions of the division and the circumstances that led to his being KIA: http://www.buecher.de/shop/wehrmach...rl/products_products/detail/prod_id/23421634/
