Hello all,
New CM player. Having worked through the various demo's over the last few months, I've finally purchased Black Sea a few nights ago and loving it! I've read & watched as many resources as I could, and devouring all the AAR's I can find.
Currently trying to squeeze in a few WEGO turns each night (and struggling - keep reading) against the AI on some tiny QBs to better understand capabilities and tactics, whilst nursing/calming our 3 week-old son (to let the wife sleep/regain her sanity!! :salute
... I reckon setup and plotting the first moves for each unit is the most time consuming: once you've committed, the rest just flows.
Played ARMA1 and ARMA2 exhaustively for a few years in a Co-op clan, including creating many detailed missions. I really enjoyed creating 'interesting' challenges for small unit actions in Afghan-esque environs, such as this hilarious gem:
Also played a far bit of the classic Close Combat series many years ago. After the significant time investment in ARMA wore thin (I was anal about my mission design, especially trigger optimization and balancing OPFOR numbers; also my rig couldn't handle ARMA3), I re-investigated CC and was disappointed with the lack of change/progress, so searching brought me to CM. n,
Will eventually be looking for some CM:BS partners on here for initially small non-complex battles, once I've got a few more QB's and scenarios under my belt. Looking forward to some human opponents (having realized that AI cannot put down indirect fire), especially for the possibilities of bluff and deception....
Thanks for having me!
