10th September, 1944. Just south of the Dutch-Belgian Border. The Irish Guards launch a hasty assault on a canal bridge to make Market Garden possible. A semi-historical recreation of the Irish Guards assault and holding action to secure the final obstacle at the end of the rapid Allied advance across western Europe following the end of Normandy. Lt. Gen. Horrocks: … Kickoff will be at 1435 hours tomorrow afternoon. The Irish Guards under the command of Colonel Vandeleur, will take the lead. Lt. Col. J.O.E. Vandeleur: [whispering to his cousin/aide] Christ, not us again. Lt. Gen. Horrocks: What do you say to that, Joe? Lt. Col. J.O.E. Vandeleur: [getting up from his chair] Uh, delighted, sir. Truly delighted. Find out why those famous lines were uttered in the movie ‘A Bridge Too Far.’ Base game, CW and MG modules required. British vs AI or H2H only. No Allied AI plan – can’t rely on the AI getting lots of armour over a narrow bridge. In H2H the stronger player should play as Germans.

I thought I commented on this one at the Repository, but I don’t see my comments there anymore. In any event, I enjoyed this one. I prefer smaller company-size engagements on interesting maps and this one fit the bill.
Very challenging! Only able to get a Draw, but I really enjoyed this scenario. Great job! Very good briefing, but I was a little confused about which command unit had to exit to help find/disarm the explosives on the bridge. Tiny point, and not one that should take away the great work you did on this battle. Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback. If tank riders come to CMBN I’ll tweak the scenario a bit to make it more historically accurate and redo the engineers for the British.
