Combining the "Hide" and Cover Arc Commands?

While playing as defender in a QB the other day, I noted that you can issue the "hide" and cover arc commands, without one cancelling the other.

So I am wondering, is this a functional command combination (e.g. for ambushes) that others use as a "trick of the trade?" Or does the "hide" command supersede the cover arc and it's just not graphically represented on screen?

I'm struggling on defense to find a balance between avoiding detection and maintaining situational awareness.

And I miss the "ambush" arc from my Close Combat days. ;)

EDIT: for greater clarity

It's always been like that. Problem is, the defenders have their faces in the dirt and notice nothing. Steve has mentioned implementing an ambush routine wherein a Hiding unit + Arc = Ambush. The defender, in this scheme, gains more awareness at the expense of a bit less concealment. Expect this in an update.

However I seem to notice that in CMRT the hiders' LOS is more extended than in previous games. So perhaps it's already a reality.

Thanks for the reply. Generally, I like being forced to choose between staying out of site or actively covering on defense. The only time it doesn't make sense to me is when an enemy is close enough that my pixeltroops would presumably know the enemy was present, i.e. close quarters.

Thanks, Dutch. But I decided to ditch Sly and go with Generallissimo Bill Murray. He exudes that martial air from every pore. Damn, this is fun.

I'll post in the intro section.
Cheers.

Someone has the right idea, mine was a picture of Tom Selleck lol
