Beware CMAK's 'gentle slopes' parameter

Because they're not slopes at all, they're just small ripples in the ground and give poor cover unless you can find an area of slightly sunken ground, so bear that in mind when playing Cmak..;)

This is a randomly-generated QB Meeting Eng to the above params; no trees, no buildings, and the gentle slopes give hardly any cover for many of the units, a nightmarish 'battlefield from hell' -

Unknown to my opponent I placed a whole tank company, an under strength Italian infantry company/with 3x infantry guns and platoon of Italian armor cars behind the gentle slope in the center of the map. You can see the dust raising from moving forward the platoon of Italian armor cars. I planned to used their 20mm on the poor infantry as they got closer to the victory flags.
What's weird is the view of the AT guns is way out of scale, they look like giants LOL.

Gentle slopes (or even a completely flat map) in cmak and cmbb usually results in boring games because both sides can see most of the enemies units and just stand blasting each other like ships exchanging broadsides.
To make games on flattish maps interesting there really need to be clumps of trees, medium hills and buildings scattered around, so that both sides can use them as cover to stalk the enemy..:)

There is a awful lot of Desert games like that, you are right the game then becomes boring

Especially with the early war AT guns you have to hit several time to KO a tank and with longrange duelling you get out of AT shells very fast...

Experienced players have got no excuse for not closely studying the params beforehand, in which case it's their own fault if they get zapped.
For example look at the first post, Rural/Open/Gentle slopes says loud and clear- No buildings, no trees, no hills, in other words a map like an empty pool table, ideal for AT-guns with long fields of fire, and both players are free to spend to the hilt on guns..:)

A mess of AT guns in a meeting engagement?
Anti-tank gun cost far less than a tank, and great for covering ones flank in any type of CM fight, including meeting engagement. More time than nor, their claim they fair enough of enemy armor and infantry.
Most people dont play this way,
Excellent that most people dont play this way, for they will be easy to beat in any type of fight. It's the player who learns from they MISTAKES that are harder to beat over time, not the one that can't .

There's an unwritten rule in QB's:-"Buy whatever you like".
If one guy wants to restrict what can be bought, he should say so BEFORE the start to see if the other guy agrees.
I always tell my oppos:-"Buy whatever you want, I don't care", life's so much simpler that way..:)

Hear, hear! Anything goes! :laser:

I agree that it is buyer beware. The point about AT guns and meeting engagements is that it contradicts the view some people have of a meeting engagement as a continuation of both sides moving toward each other...not a launch from pre-prepared positions with unlimbered and concealed guns right from the word go.

Because of that, some people like to pre-arrange with each other that any guns have to start hooked p to a towing vehicle, which can be very interesting if both agree. Much harder to keep them alive, and the requirement for a towing vehicle reduces the amount a player can afford. Just an idea.

There was a tournament once that was a rule for plus no AFV could have any main gun larger than 50mm for ME type actions.

Yes, it is always best to purchase something to tow your AT gun/s, because you never know what the LOS will be like from the set-up zone and when and where they will be needed. Rommel loved them!
