88mm Flak Gun (Anti-aircraft gun)

Mounted on the Sd.Kfz 9. It combined the famous 88 mm FlaK 37 anti-aircraft/anti-tank gun with the Sd.Kfz 9, Germany’s largest half-track, for a mobile heavy firepower platform.

Wonder if it was primarily intended as an AA vehicle or AT/ground support?

High precision: Under the 88mm cannon, Unteroffizier Reinhard Melzer -left- (1914/1994) and his battery commander Oberleutnant Theodor Schwabach (1912/1981) of 1./Flak Rgt.33 awarded the knight's cross for destroying 34 British tanks at the battle of Sollum, June 15-17, 1941. Both survived the war.
