The December 2010 issue of Fine Scale Modeler had a great article that detailed using a mirror to actually make an aircraft model look like it is in flight. The author of the article also had an article about the subject on FSM's online site as well.

This idea is very cool and has tons of applications. It has also sparked several different ideas for me. I am really itching to try this and there is a distinct possibility that I may be detailing such a project here in the near future.

I read that one too, you could use it for your AC-130?
 
you could even "paint" the mirror for clouds and terrain on horizion
 
Decided not to try this with my AC-130 project as it would be difficult to model propellers that were in motion in a way that appears realistic. I do think that my next kit purchase will be an A-10 and I will try to use this idea with that. Already have the picture in my head.
