Nearest plane is flown by Charles Herman "Chuck" Alder (finished war with 18 victories in the skies of China over Japanese aircraft).
After the war he returned to law and became a judge in Los Angeles.

"Princess Elizabeth attends the rechristening of bomber B-17G (306th Bombardment Group). The bomber was renamed the 'Rose of York' after the English House of York, the white rose is their family coat of arms.
The aircraft was later lost in the North Sea after a raid on Bremen."
