So I finally got around to actually play this game, which I picked up on a sale recently. First impression is that it's very like Hell Let Loose, but I actually prefer PS. Seems a bit slower paced, and the sound is better. Also it seems there are more serious teamplaying types there, especially on the British servers.

I'm in Denmark, GMT+1 time zone.

The inoffensive offensive continues this weekend. Would be nice to see a few good men on the battlefield.

@Concord @Bootie @Badger73 @Lethaface @Vartuoosi @Josey Wales @Drifter Man and any others who might be interested in joining are welcome.

I know the ping might not be that great for all of us, but maybe we can find a server with a good compromise for all.

Thank you for inviting me. I don't own this game so cannot join. Good luck to the Few Good Men who do! (y)

Ah right.. I thought I halfway remembered you said you picked it up on a sale some time ago. In any case I thought you should have an invite.

Thanks @Bulletpoint!

It is installed on my new computer, but I haven't played it in about 2 or 3 years.
A lot has changed and been added in the game since then, so I will have some learning to do, to be effective.
I might start it up this week and explore it again.
Next weekend I have a big party to go to, so I won't be available, but I will keep it in mind for the near future.

Yes, apparently there was an armoured update recently, but since I just got into the game now, I don't know what's new and what's not. I played several games this weekend, and my conclusion is that I prefer PS over HLL. Players seem to move more slowly, there's a stamina system, and around half of players are armed with bolt action rifles, which means there's less of a "spray and pray" focus than in HLL, where most people have automatics of some kind.

However, the action is still often pretty frantic and chaotic, and sometimes you have to spend a long time looking for a proper squad instead of just random players running around all over the map. When you find a good squad, it can be really fun though.

Yesterday had a great moment where I managed to survive a long time in a squad with good teamplay. The most epic part was when we had to cross a field under fire, and a Panther rolled up in support - orders were given to move directly behind the Panther and use it for cover as we crossed. Some doubts were heard on the chat as to whether this was suicide, but everybody joined in, and we actually did make it across under fire. Moments like that is what I play the game for.

I had the flu this weekend so didn't do much. But a while back I played it again and it's gotten much better, Russian front and all. Great game really.

Aren't you thinking of Hell Let Loose here? I don't think there are any Russians in Postscriptum. However, there are Frenchmen and French tanks...

Ah lol yes I thought this was the HLL thread. Still a bit iffy from the flu I guess. To be honest I didn't have as much fun with PS. I felt the maps where too large for the amount of players. A lot of walking as well.

Yes, I agree they are too large for battles that are basically platoon sized. HLL has a system where the map automatically scales depending on the number of players, which is pretty clever.

Also in my opinion, there is too much airpower and artillery in the game for a platoon sized engagement. So, it's a game that could be improved and hopefully will continue to be. Still interesting to play as of now.

What's the solitaire/single person playability of Post Scriptium?

Zero, unfortunately. But you can join an empty server and just take a look at it. There's also a shooting range where you can try out the different weapons against targets, but unfortunately it was changed recently from a real-looking range into a "virtual reality" one. Also the targets don't move now, so the usefulness is very limited.

I've played it and Hell Let Loose and noticed Hell Let Loose has a lot more servers... Very similar mechanics and a great WWII on the ground feel!

Yes, they are very similar games. The main difference is that PS is a bit more heavy on the bolt action, whereas HLL has more automatics.

Also HLL has a slightly more arcadey-feel to it, where you earn points and use them to unlock classes and special custom appearances. Not a big fan of that, myself.
