CMFB Patch v1.01 released

Not sure if I installed the patch right, since it came with no instructions. I unzipped it into a dump folder, then ran the CMFB_v101_setup (which does not let you choose a folder) and then replaced the final blitzkrieg v101.brz file in the Data folder in the FB install tree. Seems to have worked but not 100% sure if anything else need to be done?

If the game *looks* like it's working OK, and the title splash screen says "v1.01" in the bottom right hand corner, then you are good to go I think ...

For me it was a painless process without needing to move any files manually ... but the data folder does need a "v101.brz" file present, so if the patch process didn't put it there for you, then you did right to move it there.

But I'm not sure what you mean when you say "replaced" the v101.brz file?? It wouldn't have been there before, so you should need only to "place" it there, not "replace" it there? All the previous .brz files from v1.00 need to stay; the v101.brz is an addition to the set ... May be I'm just taking your words TOO literally!

The patch process does seem - unnecessarily so, IMHO - "fussy" about where it is installed *from*: use a new empty folder as the place to unzip it, etc. The patch process seems prone to picking up unwanted files (including .brz files) from other folders, like from other CM titles if you have them, with odd results if the patch is eg unzipped and run from within a set of CM title folders ...

A clean folder to install from, and doing it to the default game location, has always worked correctly "on auto" for me ...

Well, if he first ran the setup file, it would have already correctly placed the v101.brz in the Data folder. So @Ulvjager's manual placement of the v101.brz should have been unnecessary (the fact that he was 'replacing' the one already there I think confirms that)? He was simply duplicating what the setup file had already done?

The patch included changes to a number of files. If you fell victum to the patch creating a new directory and adding files there instead of replacing them in your original install then you need to move all the files over (the .exe and the .brz are the ones that really matter).

Ok, thanks guys. I thought I replaced the v101.brz file but it's clear that me running the setup put it there in the first place. And the game menu screen show v1.01, so I'll assume its patched correctly then.

I KNEW it was BF! Told ya! Still angry.

TO the BF Forum:
Well, damnmit! You don't think this little tidbit is worthy of being placed in the <readme>? Would have saved me a lot of frustration and time. I shouldn't have to scroll through the forums to be able to install a patch!

"Unzip the file to a newly created empty folder and run the install from there. Don't unzip it into the game install folder, don't unzip it to some place where you have every other BFC game. Unzip to an empty folder."
