Thanks for the heads up!

There is a post from Steve on the BF forum about methods for using keys, and ways around possible problems:

Instructions for Upgrading CMFI to Engine 4

Upgrading CMFI to Engine 4 requires prior product purchases be relicensed. This is because we've updated the copy protection software. This is a one time thing which also affected CMBN Mac and CMRT for both platforms, so some of you will find these instructions familiar. The method of relicensing is flexible, but here's the optimal method:

1. After installing using the Full or Update installers, launch the game. You'll be prompted to license. Enter you Engine 4 license key and exit.

2. Use the "Activate New Products" short cut in your CMFI folder to launch the game with the license window. Enter your Engine 3 license key. If you bought the Upgrade 3 + 4 Bundle then you can skip this step.

3. Use the "Activate New Products" short again and enter your Engine 2 license key *IF* you have one, otherwise skip this step.

4. If you purchased Gustav Line as a separate product, use "Activate New Products" again and enter your Gustav license key. If you bought Gustav as a Bundle, it should already be activated.

If you should run into any issues, try to figure out what key is missing (the game should give you adequate feedback for that) and use "Activate New Products" link to allow you to enter whichever key is needed. If you still have a problem, especially if you bought a Gustav Line Bundle (some keys definitely didn't transition correctly!), file with our Help Desk and include the license key you're having problems with:

https://battlefront.mojohelpdesk.com

If you can not find your license keys sent to you by email, no problem. Go to your store account and check your Order History. Keys and download links are always there for you unless you ordered a "hardgoods only" option. In that case your license keys are on the back of the CD/DVD cases that came in the mail.

Also good to know... if a download link in an email confirmation doesn't work, go to Order History and try from there.

Yeah tried all that. I must be one of the few with a rubbish key. Pays to be a winner.

Downloaded, installed and ran 4.0.
I followed Steve's suggestions as per PhilM's post.
No issues.

@Wildcard when you say your keys don't work do you mean the Blind Keys, or Commands for things such as "Fast" and "Normal" movement, "Target" and the such?

sorted it when i put the key in and press activate it just showed a long grey box with a white x in.To me that mean't it did not work. so out of blind luck when to activate my v3 key and it all kicked in.

@Wildcard , are you up and running? If not Steve was responding to issues on the battle front forum this morning. If he has stopped open a ticket with support and one of his other staffers can fix your license keys, if that is the problem.

If seems like some purchase scenarios got left out of the proper place in the license database.

im all sorted my cmfi did not register it sa active i just kept getting sgrey box instead of green box with tick in. strange

OK, all went well, except one thing. I purchased Gustav line as a CD. The install of v4 of FI went well, no issues, but Gustav line wasn't there when complete. There was this talk of "Activate new products" which on the "old" version of FI was NOT in the file. So therefore I was confused. But, on further inspection of the "new" v4 game it WAS there. I entered my code and boom done. Just an FYI

Yes had to use v3 key as well

After installing the upgrade continuing a game that was started a few days ago the smoke turned into yellow explosion fireballs and incoming arty rounds sounded like planes... t'was quite loud!

IIRC some reported this with the last batch of 4.0 engine upgrades - and that it disappears after a few turns. Hope it does.

When I went to the BF website, it looked like it said that CMFI "needed a little more work." Can someone point me to the link for getting the CMFI v4 engine?

Thanks in advance.
It was a 'soft launch' where only those who visit the BF forums regularly would see the announcement and by default test to make sure everything is running. (Defacto guinea pigs). From this guinea pig I can say it all worked flawlessly if you follow the instructions above. Don't forget to register Gustav Line again if you bought that seperately from your base game.

As for where to download - if you bought the bundle 4.0 upgrade at Christmas just login to the downloads area (via your license key you got when you purchased the 4.0 bundle) and it should appear in the list of files you are eligible to download. Confusingly it's called 'CMFI 2.0 Windows' or something similar. BF version naming conventions.

I think the best version naming convention has actually been Paradox Software with their Sci-Fi strategy tile 'Stellaris.' Each major update has a number but is publically identified by the name of a famoud Sci-Fi author.

Go to BF, click games, cm, cmfi, then on that page it will be on the left margin says update 3-4.
