This video has a good view of the key/groove on the gun/launcher system mentioned in the Sheridan video above. A major contributor to the failure of the M60A2 and the Sheridan as the groove cut inside the gun barrel was a major weak point which resulted in cracked gun barrels.

It had been decommissioned years ago --- taken out of mothballs and supplied to the Ukrainians -- and doing a very good job it seems.

A US Civil Defense worker conducts a maintenance check of a Chrysler-manufactured "Bell Victory Siren" on top of a building in downtown Miami. These massive air-raid sirens were often referred as the "Big Red" or "Big Red Whistle" and contained a Chrysler V8-Hemi "Firepower" engine with the capacity to reach an output of 138 db(C) (30,000 watts) which could be heard 25 miles away.
The purpose of these sirens were to warn major US cities of a pending nuclear attack from the Soviet Union or Cuba. The US government provided the funding to pay for each air raid siren which cost $5,500 per unit.
The operator's job was to start the engine and bring it up to operating speed, then to pull and release the transmission handle to start the wailing signal generation. The Chrysler Air Raid Siren produced the loudest sound ever achieved by an air raid siren. Many of these sirens were removed and deactivated from civil service functions. A few are still operational.

I looked around and found out of a hundred or so built the only ones still working are in California.
