Been dabbling with this for a while ... spent some time working on this map and also with all the reading about WW1 I've been doing lately, I thought I'd have a bash at designing a campaign fusing the board game DIPLOMACY and Domination and CM into a mega-campaign for the control of EUROPE.
Would there be any interest in this?
Two player teams like in CM:Risk (nationalities of CM forces will be assigned by random -- except for Germany and Britain) ... battles all executed as CMBN/CMFI quick-battles (parameters will be set up in the rules) ... naval and strategic warfare abstracted. (naval warfare, submarine warfare and strategic air may be included)
Behind the scenes diplomacy, alliances and back-stabbing will be key ... each country/empire will have different production & resource capacities.
It'll work similar to Risk, in that teams and players will have time to sort out their diplomacy/alliances ... then build and move armies/fleets, base strategic warfare assets and order attacks all at the same time - the GM will then process these and all battles will be played out as medium CM QB's on medium maps. (maps will pre-assigned to each territory -- details to be still worked out.
Here's a sample teaser map ... British & German navies clashing in North Sea ... France has occupied Belgium, while Italy and Germany have allied against France and are invading ... the Italian & French Med Fleets are fighting for control of Gulf of Lyon.
Austria-Hungary is undecided and keeping out of it ... Turkey decides to make a grab for Bulgaria -- Russia is mobilising to counter this advance...
I have added in naval bases (naval warfare and control of seas will be key to launch amphibious invasions)
-- capitals are in place ... still need to add each country's secondary cities and main industrial area like the Ruhr. Also, some territories will get terrain -- such as Mountain/Forest etc.
If there is enough interest in this ... I can keep developing this further (it would only go into action if I am sure I have enough time) ... making the battles QB's will save a lot of time.
