Foxworthy on Muslims

I'm not that young....

You can try to ignore the world but will the world ignore you ? The US tried it some 100 years ago but were drawn into 2 world wars nevertheless....

Switzerland has ignored the world for 195 years and they're doing fine..;)

IBM has been allegedly targeted by a group of Italian eco-terrorists intent on bombing a planned nano-technology centre in Switzerland.
Police in Switzerland apparently foiled the attack by members of Italian eco-anarchist group Il Silvestre when they stopped a car a few miles from the target on April 15

For centuries, this Alpine nation has successfully relied on a strict policy of political neutrality to insulate it from the wars, invasions and revolutions that have raged outside its borders. These days, a new threat has emerged: one from within. As they have elsewhere in Europe, Islamic radicals are making inroads in Switzerland. Last month, Swiss officials announced the arrests of a dozen suspects who allegedly conspired to shoot down an Israeli airliner flying from Geneva to Tel Aviv. In a related case, a North African man has been charged with organizing a plot from Swiss soil to blow up the Spanish supreme court in Madrid.

February 21, 1970 sees Palestinian bombers destroy a Swissair flight killing 47 people headed for Tel-Aviv. Holed by a device in the cargo, the plane plunges into a forest in canton Aargau. Investigators later discover that a parcel bomb linked to an altimeter was responsible.

The championships, which begin on June 7 and are hosted by Switzerland and Austria, are in a "terrorist danger zone" and police are monitoring closely a number of internet chat forums linked to the terror group.

Juerg Buehler, a security expert with the Swiss federal police, said: "The Euro 2008 tournament is a potential target cited by the Islamist terrorist network."
Messages have been posted on "sos minbar" and "As-Sahab", two Islamist websites used by al-Qa’eda and its followers.
Mr Buehler said: "We are taking these threats seriously. We are on alert and we are following these jihad forums very closely. It is through these that Osama bin Laden’s agents awaken dormant cells.
"The situation is serious even if it is frustrated people hiding behind these sites."
According to the official, one site said: "Let’s transform the two most secure countries in Europe into hell, like the hell in Iraq and Afghanistan."

Of those 4 examples, NOTHING HAPPENED in 3 of them, they were just alleged "plots".
The Swiss airliner bombing is ancient history (40 years old), and even that was because the flight was headed to Israel. Like i've said, any country that has links with Israel had better watch out.

Incidentally I've just been checking out Switzerlands involvement in Afghanistan; they sent 31 army officers there (construction advisers and doctors) in 2003 but pulled them out a few years later because they didn't like the way the war was being run by the Coalition. The Swiss have got balls, i like that..:)

But the intent is there?

Its only a mere skip back on the timeline when compared to your 195 years of peaceful bliss?

No country is safe POS... you said yourself on many occassions that any non-muslims are the enemy according to the koran..... or that we are witnessing the start of a Christian / Muslim war?

Amen, nuff said. You are the ultimate web searcher Bootie, I looked but came up with less material.

..No country is safe POS....

But some countries (the ones with no boots in the mideast) are safer than others..;)
A muslim guy on TV said "We target only hostile enemy governments", and when the interviewer said-"but you target innocent civilians in the US, Britain, Israel and Spain etc", he replied- "yes because they voted their governments into power".

So as long as our governments have Coalition troops in the mideast, the threat to our homelands remains.
Bin Laden spelt it out (below), it's a payback thing-

"The Twin Towers were legitimate targets, they were supporting US economic power.
These events were great by all measurement.
If avenging the killing of our people is terrorism then history should be a witness that we are terrorists.
Yes, we kill their innocents and this is legal religiously and logically.
There are two types of terror, good and bad.
What we are practising is good terror. We will not stop killing them and whoever supports them.
Bush and Blair don't understand anything but the power of force.
Every time they kill us, we kill them, so the balance of terror can be achieved.
It is the duty of every Muslim to fight.
Killing Jews is top priority."

"We are seeking to incite the (Islamic) nation to rise up to liberate its land and to conduct jihad (holy war) for the sake of God." -- to al-Jazeera, June 1999

Terrorists are terrorists, no matter what religion they are.
As Barack Obama said- "Our fight is not with Islam, it is with terrorists, whatever their religion may be"
Luckily the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful because they know that the "kill infidels" bits in the Koran refer only to ancient historical times.
But a minority of muslim extremist hot-heads prefer to think it refers to modern times too, especially when they see foreign troops invading their land.
Same with the harsh bits in the bible, most christians know that the order to kill witches refers only to cruel Old T times. I've been penpalling with a witch for 13 years and we get on great, I haven't burnt her at the stake yet, she runs The Olde Thatched Inn country pub in Leicestershire with some bloke.

Sorry POS, but I believe that is Checkmate. Bert put on the lid and Bootie nailed it shut.

Let me put it this way, if all Coalition troops were pulled out of Afgh, would the terrorist threat to our homelands increase or decrease?
It's a no-brainer..:)

In my opinion with the terrorists unchecked they would have the strength to challenge the power in Afghanistan yet again. Training camps would spring up everywhere with new recruits thronging to the cause due to their 'success' in ridding the country of Western forces - this in turn would 'hearten' terrorists in other nations to stick it out. Pakistan may become unstable and remember Pakistan is a nuclear armed nation. Even NATO disagree with your assessment.

David Cameron's plan to withdraw from Afghanistan within five years could encourage Taliban forces to step-up attacks on Western forces, the head of Nato has warned.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen - who was in London for talks with Mr Cameron and Defence Secretary Liam Fox - said there could be no guaranteed withdrawal date for the international troops.
Last month Mr Cameron said he hoped to bring home British troops before the expected date of the next general election in 2015.

Mr Rasmussen, the Nato secretary-general, said that while he understood the desire of elected leaders to bring back their forces, the mission had to continue until the Afghans could take responsibility for their own security.
'We can have our hopes, we can have our expectations, but I cannot give any guarantee as far as an exact date or year is concerned,' he told The Daily Telegraph.
'The Taliban follow the political debate in troop-contributing countries closely.
'If they discover that through their attacks, they can weaken the support for our presence in Afghanistan, they will just be encouraged to step up their attacks on foreign troops.'
Mr Rasmussen, a former Danish prime minister, said that withdrawing too soon from Afghanistan would lead to a renewed terrorist threat from Al Qaeda, and would risk destabilising neighbouring Pakistan.

'The Taliban would return to Afghanistan and Afghanistan would once again become a safe haven for terrorist groups who would use it as a launch pad for terrorist attacks on North America and Europe,' he said.
Following Mr Rasmussen's meeting with Mr Cameron, Downing Street said they had agreed on the 'central importance' of the ongoing international mission in Afghanistan 'to the national security of the UK and all Nato allies'.
'The Prime Minister made clear that success in Afghanistan was his Government's highest foreign policy and national security priority,' a No 10 statement said.

The way I see it is.... we have made our bed and now we need to lie in it and see this through no matter how many years it takes. We are not going to 'win' because its not a black and white situation (cue John Wayne pic). The strategy is to provide the country with strong infrastructure and an armed force of its own capable of withstanding the Taliban. The terrorist threat will not go away..... you cant defeat an 'idea' militarily... but... with a flourishing country, strong infrastructure and laws in place you can dampen the idea so that its less appealing.

I've been researching the oil thing on the net, and these two snippets put our presence in Afghanistan into perspective-

afgh-oil.gif

oil-prod.gif

So, given the fact that 2010 is a milestone year in history because oil supply can no longer meet demand, and the fact that Afgh has got untapped oil deposits, NO WAY do the Wests governments feel able to pull out until a strong Afghan Army and government are installed and an oil-producing infrastructure is put in place to help supply the West's insatiable thirst for the black gold.
So yeah I think i'll grudgingly admit Coalition troops should perhaps stay there til those objectives are achieved, AND THEN GET THE F OUT..:)
