David Bowie (1947/2016) relocated to West Berlin in the fall of 1976 where he shared an apartment with James Newell Osterberg aka Iggy Pop (1947/ -) at 155 Hauptstrasse, Schöneberg close to the U Bahn Kleistpark station. There is a memorial plaque in the front of the building.

Günther Halm knocked 15 British tanks in just a few minutes in his first battle at El Alamein with his anti-tank gun. At just 19 years old, he was awarded the Knight's Cross by Erwin Rommel.
Hugo Broch was awarded the Knight's Cross after 79 aerial victories (12 March 1945).
Ludwig Bauer served on the Eastern and Western Fronts.
He was awarded the Knight's Cross for his bravery on the battlefield during the fighting on the Western Front. He commanded Panzer II, III, IV, StuG III and Panzer V. He was wounded seven times and his tanks received nine direct hits. After the war he served in the Bundeswehr reserve and retired as Oberstleutnant (Lieutenant Colonel).

August 29, 1976. Soviet Echo II-class submarine K-22 seconds before colliding with USS Voge (FF 1047) near Greece. The Soviet captain attempted to avoid the collision by ordering an emergency dive but rammed Voge's port quarter. Both vessels suffered severe damage. Photo taken from the deck of USS Voge.

Situated on Chicago, Above and Beyond is an immense 10 x 40 foot sculpture and is comprised of imprinted dog tags, one for each of the more than 58,000 service men and women who died in the Vietnam War and is the first new permanent Vietnam War memorial.
Today is the 55th anniversary of the Kent State shootings in 1970.
"The Kent State shootings (also known as the Kent State massacre or May 4 massacre were the killing of four and wounding of nine unarmed college students by the Ohio National Guard on the Kent State University campus. The shootings took place on May 4, 1970, during a rally opposing the expanding involvement of the Vietnam War into Cambodia by United States military forces as well as protesting the National Guard presence on campus and the draft."
