A really cool set of original colour photos of Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe (Swallow), the world's "first operational jet-powered fighter aircraft" - seen here at Lechfeld in Germany late 1944 into 1945.
From 1945 till 1951 Czechoslovakia built and flew the (German) Messerschmitt Me 262. During the war the Me 262 was also produced in Czechoslovakian factories. In 1945, Czechoslovakia still had the equipment required to build the aircraft (Avia S-92).
