Guys load ammunition into the wing magazines for the 20mm Hispano Mk II cannon of a Hawker Hurricane. 22 Dec 1941, RAF Station Tangmere, West Sussex, UK.
I have a bit of a soft spot for the 'workhorses' of the war. The Hurricane and the P-40 being good examples.
If the fighter aircraft of WWII were a rock band, the Spitfires and Mustangs would be lead guitar and the Hurricane and P-40 would be bass players.
They're in the background just plugging away, nothing flashy, but you'd notice if they were gone.
"The "2 bladed mk1 hurricane" refers to the early versions of the Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft, specifically the Mark I variant, which were initially equipped with a two-bladed, wooden, fixed-pitch propeller. These early Hurricanes also featured fabric-covered wings and a fixed tailwheel. The two-bladed propeller was later replaced with a three-bladed version on later models."
