Thank you for the acceptance, and welcome.

Brief intro is I am an old school wargamer/boardgamer who has embraced the digital battlefield since it began. These days I only play the computer versions (tho my attic creaks with lead figures and a boardgame collection to make grown men cry), I have recently got back into Combat Mission - and really want to play more head to head games - hence my approach.

I did play a few games many moons ago on another combat mission ladder site, and remember seeing some of the fgm there.
Anyway enough for now - thanks again - looking forward to getting severely mauled by a few experienced pros to get me into shape.

Oh, I am UK based - commonly known as a Geordie (North of England).
 
Welcome Geordie! For the case You want to play the old CMx1 (CMAK & CMBB) I would be interested. Oh, and You could take a look into the CMx1 section and into FFT and MBC!

Joining this community was the right decision because Combat Mission is at it's best when played against other humans
- but in our download section you will also find a lot of new scenarios to play against the AI.

Here is plenty of stuff to check out and a lot of good people and reliable players to meet! :)

Thanks all for the warm welcome, I will try not to be the total noob/fng but inevitably I will at some point need help in finding the glass hammer and the tartan paint - so thank you in advance for your forbearance...

Sempai - I now only run on Mac (pretty much) and all my CM1's are PC, so sadly it will be CM2 I am looking for - I only have CMBFN with the commonwealth module, but plan to add the others (Italy, Gustav and MG) as soon as possible.

I do have dropbox, I dont recognise H2HH - guide me if you would be so kind.

Not sure what you mean here...
I have one main DB, but within it I have many others that I started, else-wise one would be limited to playing only one game at a time.

Maybe this will help you get a grip on how it works...
1. Open your Dropbox
2. Right click on it to open a pop-up
3. Choose (left click) 'New', this will create a new DB inside your master DB.
4. Label it (I use the format...player vs player...ex: Richtig vs Facman)
5. Drop your pbem file in the folder
6. Right click on your newly named and filled folder to bring another pop-up
7. Choose (left click) 'Share this folder', which will open an e-mail form that you will use to invite your opponent
8. enter your opponents e-mail addy (which can be found at the bottom of his avatar field)
9. send the e-mail invite and your done.

Now you just sit back and wait for H2HH to do all your work for you...

Conversely, if an opponent sends you an invite to DB, all you need do is accept it, and a new DB will be added to your main DB.
 
Cheers Facman - I will sort it - I was simply wondering if I could run a separate dropbox account for my games, but no worries - thanks for all your help

Welcome to the FGM Herr Richtig.
As you are a (former) boardgamer maybe you are still playing some. If so and you are familiar with Vassal maybe we can start up a good old boardgame sometime...
