Hello

Welcome to the FGM Herr Richtig.
As you are a (former) boardgamer maybe you are still playing some. If so and you are familiar with Vassal maybe we can start up a good old boardgame sometime...
Strachwitz - that sounds like a plan, I do indeed have Vassal and a reasonable collection of modules, so would be happy to get something rolling - what are you into? I have played a lot of stuff, having started collecting (someone who I mentioned my library of games to said i was a collector rather than a wargamer - and there may be some truth in that!) back in the late 70's.

I played a lot of boardgames earlier in my youth and I have to admit I never used Vassal. Yet I hope :). But I got quite a good hang of Vassal so this should be no problem.
Right now I would be interested in "It never snows" a SCS rules game. Or maybe Where Eagles Dare or Devils Cauldron but these ate real monster so maybe the first would be a good starting point. You know this game?

Strachwitz, hi yes I agree the later two are maybe bigger/longer term projects. I don't know "It never snows", but will grab the module and have a look and we can get a game going - I will need to grab rules (I have SCS rules but will find the specific game rules), have you played this before? What side do you prefer?

I never played it or any other SCS game. And as I told you also not with Vassal. So basically I am a complete rookie. But I have experience with Boardgames and understood the SCS (1.7) rules as well as the game specific ones. So if you want to try this I would be glad to get my feet wet.
I prefer Axis side and I suggest we play one of the smaller scenarios to get accustomed to before playing the real deal. Full Operation Market Garden...

Are you familiar with the expression "to open a can of worms"? Why do I get the impression I have just done that lol.... Will look at the game module and write back asap.

I had to look that up. My dictionary explained it with encounter a topic that might be more than you wanted...Maybe :). We will see. Nonetheless I am really looking forward to it!

Okies Strachwitz - I have downloaded the most up to date Vassal module, and the rules, I will try and get setup over the weekend and send a turn - I am thinking 5.6 Hold until relieved (it looks relatively small) as a starting point. Allies go first so I will do setup and we can learn together how it all works viel glück...
