Just saw a documentary about the sinking of the Royal Oak on the History Channel.
Two things I found vey impressive and moving:
Strangely enough Günther Prien, the German U-boat commander, made such a strange account of the attack in his memoirs, with so many inaccuracies that people in the British army thought it was all a hoax and conspiracy theories emerged...
Two things I found vey impressive and moving:
- the stories of the survivors about shipmates they swam with in the water and who gave up due to the cold and fatigue
- the anual ceremony when Royal Navy divers hoist the white ensign above the wreck of the Royal Oak to commemorate te 833 crewmembers whos were killed in the attack.
