Mysterious Missile Launch Off The Coast of Southern California

This was all over the news today. Local and Federal authorities as well as the military are claiming ignorance. It will be interesting to see if the truth ever comes to light.

now they are saying it is an optical illusion of regular contrails from aircraft....heheh...OKAy..wink wink....lets see...something gets launched 35 miles off the coast of California...and our Military, Space Agency, and Federal Authorities have no clue what it is and who launched it!!?? Does anyone else get a bad feeling about this!

My thoughts exactly, especially when they try and foist an explanation like "It was an optical illusion" on us. About a dozen plausible explanations are bouncing around in my head and none of them give me a warm, fuzzy feeling.
 
I'm hoping it was a case of human error or equipment malfunction on a US sub. Not nice to think that someone else might have their hands on missiles.
 
It's almost certainly just an ordinary jet contrail seen from an odd angle, here's one earlier this year over New Zealand-

The only problem with this explanation is the speed of the object. If you watch the videos of this event it is obvious that the speed of the object in question is much faster than that of any commercial airliner.
 
So the DOD has made no further comment, surely they realize that the days of no comment can't be used any more.
