Head on over to the BFC Forum and check this proposal out. choppinIt has laid out a plan and is in discussions with BFC (and has their tentative support) for an operational layer game that will interface (if enough public interest is generated) with our CM games:

He has a website for it you can join. I did...sounds very promising!

Seems like FGM has already beaten everyone to the punch re a CMx2 operational game. Not to mention the same w/CMx1.
Besides, we got Rico, et al. so this sounds a bit like old news to me. And I think FGM already does it better than the wannabe proposal.

I think what they are proposing is the campaign game idea written as software or even a supplementary game ... I think Battlefront tried that with CMBB years back.

players will receive data from my game that can be used to manually set up a CM battle they wish to fight out. Otherwise battles can be fought quickly using an in-game battle resolution system[*]If battles are fought using CM, results will be entered manually back in to my game,

This is where it falls flat on its arse in my opinion.

At the end of the day... I think the Campaign game is still a dream... until the the AI can create the map, and record all the forces for the individuals, from move to move.

Rico... excellent, tournaments and campaigns ... thanks

I think you hit the nail on the head with the above thoughtsI didn't read the BF tread (but will), but there does seem to be a cool small community of people who would be interested in a overall campaign module or separate game that would interface with individual battles. I wish I had programing skills. I would be all over it.

But I have a question. Doesn't BF know what goes on here at FGM? Isn't this the most active community on the net? A few of our guys (Bootie and Rico and others) I would think would be of huge consultative interest for them if not outright subcontractors to work on something like this.

~stuffs fist in mouth so as not to start ranting on BF~
LOL, I always got that impression from various cryptic and not so cryptic messages around here, but don't know the background. Apparently, it's not pretty...

I think 99% of the folk here have a good relationship with CM. I know Ive never had any problem when having to deal them (expired download links / license problems) and they seem to be on the ball with that side of things... and that is the only contact I have ever had with anyone remotely related to BF. I think we sneak under their radar. ;)

Exactly ... only way that could be worthwhile if all that aspect ... setting up of CM battle and processing of battle results and casualties etc was automated ... then we'd have a winner!!
Who needs all that automated stuff? We have Rico to do all that work ...;)

All kidding aside, you must know by now how much you are appreciated around here.

Our forums would be a hot bed for them on this stuff. We have just about worked out every problem that could arise with a campaign system. Or I should be saying that the people who manage this sort of thing have figured it out. I just play in the campaigns or tourneys. I would gladly pay to join something like OOC or Last Man Standing, etc.

Thanks again to everyone involved in putting these sort of things on.

A similar project back in 2005 ,Combat Mission Campaigns was called, although it was advertised , a game review was made by a magazine and it was officially supported by BFC , was canceled.
What i didnt understand clearly in this guy's advertisement is what would be his contribution in the project, the idea?As i understood from what he is writing is that he doesnt have the funds to support it nor the knowledge to create it as he is asking for guys with programming skills.....
Anyway while all these are happening, me in my Command Bunker together with my trusted Wehrmacht and Waffen SS Officers we are planning to throw into the sea those damn Gangsters and their Allies.
I have just three words to say to the dear CM Community.
If you want to campaign:

~sticks fingers in ears and begins to chant...la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la~
I think you should rant because I didn't know there was a history with BF. Although I am one of the loud complainers from past updates. While I complain I do ultimately love their product.

@Das Tiger

I love their products as well and have bought every one of them but the 1st (CMBO) during their pre-release offers. My beef with BF relates to their lack of response to the fan base that has lined their coffers since CMBO. Last time I ranted on them, the response was very personal and almost caused me to leave FGM. ~zips mouth shut~
