Quick poll: CM Black Sea

Playing it, think its up there with the best. Will be looking for some h2h soon after a bit more practice lol.

There are no more "Tiger/Panther = Gamekiller" situations - now the tanks of both sides kick ass!

???
You obviously never had one of the death stars? I think they are named 'SEP Abrams with APS'.
:D

I'm just waiting for the first house rule to limit them.

Oh and yes, playing it. One h2h and one 2h22h ;)

Hi @poesel71, I playtested (and I am still doing) several Russian vehicles against an APS Abrams
(all regular).

The price for an APS Abrams is 755 points - so I bought five "Kryzanthema" (the one with the two AT rocket launchers on his roof/top) for ~ 160 or so (~ 825 points, so there would be 9 Kryzanthems against 2 APS Abrams for example).

The APS Abrams could kill only three Kryzanthemas, six rockets hit it, the crew paniced and bailed out. ;)

I suppose that this is the key again - cheap mass production against "quality high tech"
(allthough my guessing is that Battlefront is strongly underestimating the Russian technology resp. the T-90 late models. What I saw on YouTube seemed to be equal to Abrams, Leopard, Challenger & Co).

By the way - it would be great if "colleague Aris" could give the T-90 the colour scheme shown in these videos. ;)

I am still on the Fence with this one......I think the modern warfare could spoil the Identity of CM gaming that i am use to...

Ted, at this point I only have the experience of four H2H battles and two AI matches but I would recommend CMBS to you with a good conscience. ;)

The vehicles are moving faster so that longer distances can be vanquished in shorter time and the units are aiming
and hitting better even while they are moving and still very accurately over longer distances. That is - in my opinion - what the modern battlefield makes it so "fast and deadly" as it is called by so many.

But hey - it's still turn based, isn't it? ;) LOL! :D

I for one like the look and design of the modern units (especially those from the West - the Russians could use a bit more "love" to detail and colour) and watching the little AT rockets flying across he battlefield from one end to the other is really awesome! (especially at dusk/dawn/at night)

For me CMBS has it's own "magic" - it is a great variety/diversion after three years of continously doing WWII battles and at the moment I even like it much more than any of the other CM titles - I'm completely drawn into modern warfare.

And let's be honest, my dear friend - when with the next CMBS module the British will appear on the scene with their Challenger II tanks... - as a good patriot, what else will remain for you to do but to join the modern battlefield? ;)

I would second what Shorker has said. I didn't care for CMSF due to a variety of reasons. I was waiting for the WW2 series to come out and absolutely love it. So much depth and history in it which IMHO makes it even more fun to play. But, having said that I am really, really enjoying playing this new modern module from the series.

The weapons are indeed deadlier, the optics on the vehicles are scary but if you take that into account with every movement order you make and factor in making sure your movements really take advantage of terrain, you'll do just fine in terms of playing this game smart and tactically sound. As Shorker has said, watching these new weapons fly over the battlefield gives pause for awe. So many neat tools in the box and a huge sandbox to play with them.

Give it a try, you won't regret it.

I am playing it, and it is as everyone else has said, faster, deadlier and more fun.

@Shorker @enigma6584 @miller41 OK Gents thank you for your input and persuasion  I think the time
is right for me to fall of the fence ......Happy Gaming
LOL! :D YO Ted, you were only millimeters away from the purchasing button anyway and just only needed this little nudge/shove from us that you were asking for! ;) :D :D

Always at your service, Sir! :salute:

Playing and enjoying it, against the AI at least.

I have only tried 1 H2H and I didn't like getting rolled over by Abrams and Bradley s with APS. So until I can figure out some house rules for that, I am going to avoid it.

Other than that Vein has released some really good looking Russians and Ukrainians, along with his effects mods make the game look snazzie!

Had a few goes as Russian side - Bradleys and Abrams seem to have superhuman abilities to spot even the most concealed troops lying in ambush.
Even in defence you hardly ever get the first shot off.

I think spotting in general is borked. To often my troops miss things right in front of them. I also believe Russian equipment is underestimated and the US is too powerful.

I'm starting to agree with that.
I've had a Bradley parked 50 metres away in clear LOS from a Russian AT team who don't spot the big noisy hunk of metal - yet the Bradley opens up on them

Also, have yet to have a Bmp use its ATGM against enemy tank - instead opting for the suicidal option of opening fire with it's 30mm cannon at a 1000 metres???

I get so irritated when troops don't get LOS on things right in front of them. I think it has to do with how often the game system calculates spotting.

I see Bradley's using their ATGMs all the time, but BMP-2s never seem too. I have had quite a few BMP-3s use theirs though. However, if BMP-2Ms are doing that, then something is clearly wrong because their ATGMs are crucial for killing APS equipped vehicles.

Steel Beasts does the same thing, makes Leopards and Abrams look damn near invincible. If I recall, RPGs disabled Abrams in Iraq and Afghanistan.
