Well the Colosseum and Circus Maximus could be filled with water where recreations of naval engagements (with the blood and guts) occurred for the cheering masses. Finally visiting the Colosseum a few years ago and seeing the size and height of the stadium walls you appreciate the engineering prowess of the ancient Romans in building such a structure that could hold together so much liquid mass without failing. But then again...
