The Bren vs MG42 it is really comparing Apples and Oranges. The scout took his Bren from the universal carrier and grabbed the opportunity to eliminate a German HQ. When you hear a single shot don't give a nearby sniper the credit. The reason not to play RTS you just can't do things like this. The +1 or +2 in motivation is more important.
