Convening of Writers of the Walking Dead
Staff Writer A ponders out loud, "What do you think, maybe a mission to Washington to save mankind from the apocalypse? Take the story line in another direction?
Mr. Kirkman's fixed smile swung towards the enthusiastic writer, "Sure, why not. Create an unlikely character with the secret to the whole shebang and get our reluctant heroes to see him safely on his journey....sounds brilliant you punk-assed, moron! These characters have no future and your not writing them one! Get the hell out of my studio."

Mr. Kirkman scans the room, ignoring the muffled screams of Staff Writer A being bludgeoned by the mummified leg of a departed cast member. "Shall we continue. Do you think the viewers are getting to comfortable with our characters?"
Staff Writer B cocks his head to side much as a Labrador does when you ask him if he wants a treat, "Yea, I think they are...let's pick a name from the hat and...maybe..haha..kill'em...maybe..or not?"
Kirkman slid his fingers over his closed mouth as if signaling to the writer that something verboten had been spoken, "Randomly chose one of our stars for death? I don't know about that..." The staff writer instinctively flinched as a desperate bloody hand slapped the frosted glass outside the writer's conference room.
"What if it were Rick or Darrel," Kirkman sneered. Writer B's bowels broke loose. "But, I like the way you think. We'll put everyone else's name in the hat and I'll let you even pull the name out. It will be great-we'll video you doing it and replay it on Talking Dead. You'll be famous."

Before Writer B could bolt to safety, Kirkman's iron grip held him firmly in his chair and out of nowhere, there was Carl's Stetson on the table in front of him.
Kirkman's foul breath hissed in the shaking writer's ear, "Choose."
Powerless, the writer reached into it with a trembling hand and willed himself to draw Carol (after all she was banished), or Tara (she was in the Governor's camp), Abraham (doesn't he want to die), or if there is truly a God - Carl. He held the folded paper up.
Kirkman snatched it from his colorless fingers, "Well, who did you choose?"
He unfolded it and beamed with delight. "I didn't think you had it in you." He let the paper fall and headed for the door. "Get writing and when your through-clean up that mess hallway."
Writer B looked down at the name on the paper, "Oh no, dear God, not .........!"

For those who don't know Kirkman is the creator of the comic book and they've been dumping writers every season.

Looking forward to the new season! Will be interesting to see if they can keep the story together.

I wonder if this will be good as well?

I'm looking forward to this one. Not only am I a fan of the Walking Dead stuff but I went to High School with one of the main characters, Kim Dickens. She doesn't know me from anyone now, but it is still cool to see someone from my little home town of Huntsville AL become famous.

Will take it up soon too. Still have to catch up on the original!

'Fear the Walking Dead': Second Episode Grabbed 8.2 million viewers (only in US)

The second episode of Fear the Walking Dead was a huge success, as it managed to draw in a whopping 8.2 million viewers in the United States alone. That's a huge number, and this trend is expected for future episodes as well.

The first episode of the series drew a viewer count of over 10 million, so the second episode bringing back only 8.2 million should still be viewed as a huge success for AMC and the franchise.

"Thank you and congratulations to Robert Kirkman, Dave Erickson, the brilliant executive producers and the entire cast and crew of Fear the Walking Dead," Charlie Collier, president of AMC, said about Fear's record-setting debut. "It is increasingly difficult to evaluate a show's success on night one. However, we are releasing these live/same day ratings because Fear the Walking Dead delivered record-breaking numbers that are all the more special in this era of time-shifted viewing and audience fragmentation."

With the writers going with a slow burn type of approach with the series, we can't be sure if some viewers will return. However, if the writers can continue to make the episodes interesting to the point where folks really want to see how easily civilization can be brought to its knees, then everything should work out just fine.

At the moment, the season is going relatively well. Things are slowly being brought to light and citizens are losing their minds. Before long, the outbreak will cause complete destruction and confusion, and we should be right at the point where Rick was when he awoke from his coma.

The one thing that we fear with Fear the Walking Dead is the possibility the show might become too similar to The Walking Dead. These shows need to be different, very different, to keep audiences returning for more.
