War in the East 2 Now Accepting Pre-Orders

The results can vary quite a bit, maybe a variance of ~300 kills and ~100 casualties on your side. One game I ran got just over the 4k mark.

I tried to expand out the kill zone but it was not very successful, maybe not enough planes in the south or I will need to specifically make sure the long range bombers only attack into the interior. Now I am testing the ground war and its interaction with the air war. Its looking like you might need to allocate a few JG Gruppe with a Drop Tank to Air Superiority missions as deep as you can get. That way you can defend against VVS attacks from bases that were missed in the interior. For example, in my test, 2nd PG was attacked north and east of Minsk on T1. I haven't swept up and damaged aircraft with my land forces, so either, it no longer applies or I just cant see it.

I had the same problem that my Panzer Divisions got attacked near Minsk and I was losing many tanks due to enemy ground support missions.
My solution so far is that I rebase my Jagdgeschwaders during my ground turn (T1) and move them with immediate transfer into captured airbases near Minsk, for example Baranovichi. Good for immediate transfer is if the airbase has been captured with supplies and fuel, but during transfer some supplies and fuel get's also transported. If not maybe an air transport (supply) mission with the Ju-52 could help. With that strategy the chance is high that the enemy Bombers will get intercepted.

Nice tips. I cant see any supplies in any of the captured air bases. As you said, they transport some fuel and ammo with them.

It looks like Ground Support either manual or automatic is the way to do it.

I am not sure if my Air Superiority Directive did or is doing anything although there are hints throughout the manual that this may assist in subsequent automatic ground support. I think it only directly functions during the Air phase and may have a an indirect influence on subsequent automatic ground support.

Anyone up for a game of the Intro scenario Road to Minsk. Its two turns only.

Mirror match, for example, we play two games, in one I am the Germans and in the other I am the Soviets. That we we both get to experience both sides.

Server game
Full FOG
No AI Assist for air war
No HQ Support lock

When you say server game is that PBEM or something different?

Its via the Matrix Mutliplayer server. It handles everything for you rather than having to trade emails.

Also it apparently stops people from re-doing their moves over and over again by reloading. They can see you reloading the same game.

I am currently copying what this guy is doing in his 41 playthrough. Its the fastest way to learn IMO:

Currently he is at episode 250 which means around 250 hours video time. It is February 43 and the frontline is near the original frontline from the start of Unternehmen Barbarossa. It is really fun and interesting to watch. He had some good successes and also big losses in the winters of 41/42 and 42/43. He plays quite authentic with no gamey tricks or reloads. I heard him saying that after the winter he will start a great offensive and will win the war. He sounds like a German. Maybe he played too often as German. I find it very sympathetic, but even as a German myself I have to admit that the situation is hopeless.
I can highly recommend his Wite2 YouTube series.

I've watch a few of his videos having subscribed to the channel. The videos been as long as they are it's hard to keep up.
I haven’t watched as well all episodes, but from time to time I am watching one or two of the latest ones to see how the campaign is unfolding. Always a great joy.
