The song is RÅ« Ana Te Whenua, which translates as The Earth Trembles.
The song is about two of the band members' ancestor Te Ahoaho, who fought in the historic battle at Gate Pa, Tauranga.
In the 1864 battle, 230 Māori dug themselves into the hilltop at Pukehinahina and withstood the heaviest artillery bombardment the British army had ever delivered.
Despite an overwhelming advantage in numbers (over 1,600 against about 200), the British were repulsed with heavy losses.
