Now I know why they had so many rounds in the game...they are quite small.

It's about the same size as the rounds for an M79 Grenade Launcher, aka the 'Blooper' in Vietnam (40mm)

From Wiki:
The M79 grenade launcher is a single-shot, shoulder-fired, break-action grenade launcher that fires a 40x46mm grenade which uses what the US Army calls the High-Low Propulsion System to keep recoil forces low, and first appeared during the Vietnam War. Because of its distinctive report, it has earned the nicknames of "Thumper", "Thump-Gun", "Bloop Tube", and "Blooper" among American soldiers;[1] Australian units referred to it as the "Wombat Gun".[2] The M79 can fire a wide variety of 40 mm rounds, including explosive, anti-personnel, smoke, buckshot, flechette, and illumination. While largely replaced by the M203,[3] the M79 has remained in service in many units worldwide in niche roles

The only rounds we carried in the Nam were the HE and the smoke. It was a squad weapon and every squad had a Blooperman. It was an effective and beloved weapon.

We still have it today in some units as a squad weapon.

Cargol - you mean Wombat guns ? you are not using under barrel grenage launchers ?

Thanks Facman for that info....I want one of those. LOL

I also noticed the vest the guy was wearing and I have seen many of those in the army surplus store and wonder what good they would be...now I know what they are used for. I was thinking holding fishing tackle in those little pockets. LOL

Some infantry units are still using it as a squad weapon but we also have under barrel grenade launchers.
Although quite old it can provide suppresive fire and help rear echelon units to protect their staging areas.

I'm guessing the guy in the video would not want to take a live round in the vest pockets. <g>

I never saw anyone in that vest while in the Nam, but you are undoubtedly correct.
