WWI Air Combat Game

Down In Flames was interesting, and quite difficult to do well. I don't know if BF even still offers it, but I tossed it some time back only to decide I wanted to give it another try and the one I repurchased would just not work for me. It has a quirky security process and I just couldn't get things to work the 2nd time around. Hope you have better luck.

Yes, it is turn-based and was created from the original card game. The cards you held dictated what your plane could do. Better planes had larger card inventories. It was also playable on-line which was a lot of fun.

Haven't played Down in Flames. Rise of Flight for the PC isn't too bad, you just have to spend a fortune to get all the planes. Good news is that the devs are still keeping it alive and up to date.

@mTk: Yes, it is like you are saying - technical problems with the demo - is killing all the fun and interest. UNfortunately I never knew about the board game. :(

@Septic Limb : No need to install the demo of "DiF" - it's uninteresting. With those PC flight games one also needs a lot of steering equipment it seems. I saw a pair
of special plane-joysticks at Amazon for somewhat about 300.00 € ???

@Rico: Did you play "Ace Patrol" in between?

Logitech Extreme 3Dpro flight stick is a very good entry level stick and only cost between 30-50 dollars. Well worth it if you want to get into flight sims.

@Septic Limb : Thank you very much for your recommendation - since I saw a few YouTube videos of "IL2 Sturmovik - Cliffs of Dover" my interest in principle
is awakened... AND the TV sets (flat screens 4k) are becoming better and better but it will take a while until I can afford to have such a big TV screen.
(or in between the technology focusses on visual glasses - maybe) - BUT such an ewuipment is very costly...o_O

Would love to play Ace Patrol, bought it but cannot play it. An error message occurs telling me the application is already running. No help from Steam support so far and a lot of people seem to have the same or similar problem. :(

Just an idea / only some thoughts/possible solutions (but I'm no expert):

1. Did you start your task manager for to see if it is really running already?
2. Did you restart your computer? (and tried to start the game again?)

OK, then it should run. ;)

I would uninstall the game, clear the registry, and restart the comp.

Then connect with STEAM - check out if it is correctly show in your games library/list, download and install the game again. Stay connected with STEAM.
Then start the game WITH A RIGHT MOUSECLICK by choosing from the menu: "Operate as Adminstrator" (by the way - are you from Germany? - "Als Administrator ausführen").

I'm using Norton Anitvirus as virus protection programme - it was running all the time and caused me no complications.
Don't know what antivirus you are using - maybe this is the source and you need to put it OFF while installing the game.

OK - let's try that so far. :)
